Spam Agent is a very good Spam filtering product that will allow you to set up your own custom filters to aide in the removal of those unwanted emails. Spam Agent can filter by sender, subject, recipient, and you may specify by attachment type and more. It is very easy to install and use, and Spam Agent will work in the background and monitor your incoming emails while you continue your work.
Spam Agent also has a reporting capability that will allow you to send an unsubscribed message or a spam abuse notice to the email service provider. It also gives you the option to look up the email address to see if it has been an "abusive" email address.
Spam Agent requires some patience and learning to use. After taking the time to set up your email account you will be required to go through an additional step to set up your STMP when you try to recover your email.
Spam Agent's installation and setup process requires you to set up your email accounts manually. After installation, you will be directed to a general options screen where you will enter your username, password, and mail host per account. They do offer the ability to test your account and set the filter options during the setup process.
At times, an incoming message was marked blocked, but when the email client was opened, the marked message would still get through. Another difficulty would be when the program failed to receive messages from the server that were known to be there.
Spam Agent offers a variety of filtering options including the ability to set filters by sender, recipient, subject, and body filters. Each category will allow you to add, edit, or remove your filtering conditions. Spam Agent also includes a friends list and a special category that will let you filter emails with no subject, sender the same as the recipient, and those that contain an attachment.
With the use of Bayesian filtering, and Language Semantics, 98% or greater accuracy is obtainable.
Overall, it has several positive benefits with its filtering and reporting capabilities but Spam Agent was only able to catch only about 80% or more of our spam emails and it did have a tendency to catch some of our approved senders in its quarantine area. If you keep your regular email client closed at all times it has a tendency to perform a little better.
